Web 2.0 Style

wow 2.0

Seen those glossy shiny Web 2.0 style texts on the websites?

Here is a simple technique to quickly create those stuff using simple tools like PowerPoint:

  1. Create your text using ‘wordart’
  2. Right-click, ‘Format Object’ on the text
  3. Remove the outlines of the text, then fill color using ‘fill effects’ with what you like …I prefer single color gradient fill with light on top and darker at the base
  4. Now you have a nice gradient filled text
  5. Lets add some shine now …overlay an oval, or rectangle covering top half of the text
  6. Right-click, ‘Format Object’ on the oval
  7. Remove the outlines of the oval, fill the oval with white color
  8. Make the oval transparent to 70-75%
  9. DONE! …you have a glossy shiny Web 2.0 style text for your presentations!

See a little video here:

And, here is the sample PowerPoint file: at Box.net

You know now the basic technique, go ahead and play creating complex logos, reflections, dark backgrounds …and have fun!
